Welcome, my name is Mary Sandilands…

I have practiced psychology for over 10 years in both Melbourne and Bendigo. During this time I have worked in various leadership roles including as a Clinical Director, Acting Chief of Psychology, Senior Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor.

My foundational role as a Clinical Psychologist was at the Victorian Rehabilitation Hospital, where I worked within a multidisciplinary pain team for the first three years.  Here I gained an invaluable understanding of some of the links between physical and psychological well-being and the importance of interdisciplinary treatment for many patients.  This has led to a focus in my private practice of useful and timely communication with referrers and other clinicians in a patient’s treatment team.

I have worked as a clinician on several large scale research projects including an ARC funded clinical trial evaluating cognitive behavioural therapy in the treatment of tension-type headaches and a Baker IDI Diabetes and Heart Institute randomised controlled trial evaluating the health benefits of reducing sedentary time in the workplace.

I have guest lectured Psychology Masters and Doctoral students at Monash University and RMIT University on topics including chronic pain and recovery after orthopedic injury.

I accept referrals utilising funding from Medicare, TAC, WorkSafe, DVA and NDIS.

Experience with Clinical and Health psychology cases including:

  • Anxiety and Depression
